Re: Say it ain't so!!!
M$ was on US TV recently, and it sounds as if he really is going to make a come back next year...
I say why not...if (that should be a big IF) it's something you love doing, and WANT to do. If he doesn't really WANT to do it, then what the heck??? He's a multi-multi-millionare and has nothing to prove as well as NOTHING to gain from it.
IF he wins, his detractors will still say it's because it was in his contract to not be challenged...IF he loses his fans will say it's simply because he's too old...so nothing gained, nothing lossed. I say if he really enjoys it, rock it! When you're a 7 time WDC and have no wants, who gives a damned what anyone thinks about you anyway?

Expect to see Michael, plus Boris Becker and Nikki Lauda on the come-back trail...RacerX wrote:He's a multi-multi-millionare and has nothing to prove as well as NOTHING to gain from it.
Dubai ain't doing so well lately, and someone has to pay for Michael Schumacher Business Avenue, a 29-storey business tower located in Dubai's Business Bay. Plus The Niki Lauda Twin Tower and The Boris Becker Business Tower...

MORE NEWS!!!
From the Times Online. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article6946671.ece
Bernie Ecclestone fanned the flames of speculation yesterday over the return of seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher as the man to replace Jenson Button at Mercedes Grand Prix.
Schumacher has remained enigmatic on the subject save for a comment to reporters at a karting event in Brazil last weekend when he replied “who knows?” to questions about whether he was planning a comeback.
Ecclestone told The Times that he was no longer sure what might happen with the most successful driver in the sport’s history.
“I would personally doubt that he’s going to make a comeback but, having said that, it’s maybe getting a bit stronger than a rumour,” he said.

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
Nic Fry said he'll name Michael $chumacher as their current driver after Christmas!!!! OK, OK, I kind of made up the "...Michael $chumacher..." part, but...
Fry won't deny it IS, or is NOT, M$ with whom they are in talks with, and he said it would be exciting to have a Former, older, World Champion back in the mix. Of course this also left speculation that perhaps he was talking about Jaques Villawhatever his name is (OK, I'm making this up too) but he acknowledged that having JV versus M$ would be like having a three cylinder engine (JV) running against the old V-12 Ferrari engine (M$).
ROFL...OK, I'm playing around here SOME, but Fry did acknowledge they'd announce their newest pilot after Christmas, and would NOT deny M$ and Mercedes were in talks.
Wuff...after several miserable years, the world is on the verge of being repaired!!!!
M$ IS F1!

Wow, I'm so close to pooping my pants I think I can smell it.
G-man you better bring more than tissues to clean me up, maybe a pressure washer, because if this goes through I'm sure I will lose control of all my bodily functions.

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
Michael Schumacher to ink 1 year deal to drive for Mercedes GP.
The deal will be announced before or on Christmas eve 2009.
This time, it really is The Return of the King.
There appears to be an option for a 2nd year if Schumacher decides to stay.
The return has been engineered by schumacher, Brawn and Haug. Schumacher will drive the W210 alongside Nico Rosberg since the opportunity to thank Mercedes Benz for the career they made possible through the fincial, technical and personal support through his racing career.

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
Mercedes Bez made M$'s career possible?
The expected jizzfest of teutonic proportions is enough to turn the word bukakke into a German word.
And he will be with his pal Ross in one of the best cars on the grid with the Toad running the show. And now there will be 3 permanent stewards on the Charlie Whiting payroll to be controlled.
What, you have no premonitions of collusion to come? Well, I do.

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
It was Mercedes who paid for Schumacher's foray into F1. Remember he was to be a Mercedes works F1 driver, but the Mercedes board of directors voted against a f1 team and the team eventually entered as Sauber Illmor in 1994 with Wendlinger and Frentzen.
Pretty tidy little car that has a decent turn of pace but too small a budget for development.
I don't think the comments around collusion should be justified with a response. Get over yourself.

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
If Brawn wants M$ back , it can only mean, Ross has found a new way to cheat.
Whatever happens, M$ and Brawn teaming up, can only lead us back to the most boring racing ever seen in F1
Be interesting how Rosberg takes to being a second rated driver and given instructions to act as a moving chicane to enhance M$ racing tactics

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
I doubt Mercedes would have insisted that Ross stay on board nor would they have made the offer to Schumacher to drive next year if they believed what they read on intsternet forums re MS and RB cheating ways. They have had enough controversy over the last 4 years.
the paperwork is apparently with Schumacher and the decision lies with him.
Not sure if Ferrari have any veto rights and I'm pretty sure that prick Montezemolo will exercise it if there is one.

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
Raptor- apparently the agreement with Ferrari is purely verbal, so yeah basically Schummi can go.
I hope it happens, personally I hope we kick their arses! Maybe that's naieve of me but I know as a team Ferrari is stronger than Ross and helmet head and their whole bag of tricks!
FORZA FERRARI!!!!

ROFLMAO....can you believe this much "excitement" (good or bad) regarding F1 in the so called "off season".....lol, and currently, it's a mere rumour. Who'd have thunk it???
Love him, or hate him...it goes to show that [b]M$ IS F1 [b]...
I always joked about M$ being F1, but after this, I now know M$ truly IS F1...
Damned, I can't imagine how many people this will piss-off??? Even worse, what if he wins a few races to boot??? Wholly Guacamole...and I thought I was all done with F1. Wuff...oh well, here's to getting up at 5:30am on Sunday mornings to catch all the action. Darn you, $chumacher...I was really getting to enjoy sleeping in on Sundays!!!

That is truly the icing on the cake.
Just imagine if he is competitive out of the box; I can hear all the moaning already!
Realistically I do not think he will win any races but if he does not embarrass himself in my eyes his return will be a total success. And if he happens to beat Ferrari there will be much glee in the Werner household.

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
Well...let's hope for much "glee" in the Werner household!!!
I agree with much of your "realistic" comment, however I can actually see a win, or two over the season though. Seriously, I think if Jenson can win in Braun's creation, $chuey should be a (pardon the pun) $hoe-in for at least one win, or more???
Either way, this will make the 2010 season well worth watching for many a F1 fan..either watching to see him win, or watching to see him fail miserably, or watching to see him cheat one more time, to be able to say "I told you so.".....any way you slice it, it brings viewers back to F1! I know for sure it will add one: me!
HOWEVER...let's not jump the gun...still waiting for the announcement!!!

Re: Say it ain't so!!!
Going to have to wait till around Wednesday next week for an announcement.
The blessing has to come from the wife and 2 kids first. Then it will be made yay or nay.
Mercedes want him
He wants to race again and with Mercedes is fitting
The obstacle is the family feeling comfortable with daddy getting out there and risking life and limb for a passion.
we wait. Confidence is still pretty high that he will be in the W210 next year.
