IIHF World Championships
Anybody here follow the hockey world championships? I know it doesn't have the popularity of the Stanley Cup, and that usually the North American teams don't have their best players involved, but there can be some pretty good matches. Also, I like the fact that they play on proper sized rinks!
There have been some serious upsets so far this year. The other day the sensation was Switzerland beating Canada 4-1! This was not just the result of Canada presenting an inferior team, Switzerland actually played a good offensive hockey.
But to me, the biggest surprise is Denmark. Hell, I didn't know they even had a hockey team. First they beat Finland 4-1, and then Slovakia 6-0!!!

Proper sized rinks? You mean those olympic sized monstrosities that only help the finese styled player? Man those things always wore me out

I can see how these rinks would wear you out. Still, I like the flow of the game you get on them, and as you say that they benefit the finesse styled players.
Haven't actually watched a single game yet, but Sweden seems to be improving as the tournament goes on, I might have to check it out. They are playing Denmark right now, and I hope they will not be over confident.
