World Cup

Germany won the World Cup, Brasil got humiliated and Cristiano Ronaldo ended up crying again.

That's all.

I have to say though that I was surprised that four big football nations; Italy, Spain, Portugal and England, all got knocked out in the first round.

I think Spain was a big surprise, Italy and Portugal less so, and most England fans, who are not brainwashed by the Premier League bollox, did not think England would get past the first round.

I thought the Swiss would beat Argentina, then I thought the Belgium's would beat them, then I thought the Dutch would beat them, thank God the Krouts finally did the job.

I think the best team won, honorable mention to Algeria and the good old US of A, for putting in credible performances.

I liked how the guy who was knocked silly was able to come back on the field and score the winning goal. As for the USA putting in a good effort, we still have a long way to go. Tim Howard really kept us from getting blown out a few times.

It's not uncommon in recent decades for the reigning World Champions to get knocked out early, although I really didn't think Spain would follow suits (Italy 2010, France 2002 the other two).
I wasn't expecting much from Italy so I wasn't overly surprised by their early departure. Similarly with England and Portugal.

The Brazil v Germany game was incredible. Never seen anything like it. It was the purest definition of meltdown.
