Well done, almost came to see you this week, friend's wife having a big party at there place in Lake Annecy on Sat & Sun. We then planned to spend a few days in the area (Geneva is not that far away).
Unfortunately my wife decided to break her collar bone and it has made traveling to problematical, ah well, next time.

Oh, that really sucks!! We would have loved to have you here, and you could have stayed at our place. I mean, we did have your son over while in Singapore, and we still need to meet you. I certainly hope that you will be able to come over some other time.
I really hope your wife is okay. A broken collar bone can be very painful!

Re: fpotm!
I've never had a broken collar bone.
But I may be able to arrange to get married...
...and then break my wife's collar bone - if that's the acceptable excuse for failing to win at FPOTM?
Current excuse: Drilling 14mm holes x 20 in hard brick, and then installing two motorised canopies / awnings on the back of the house -
1 x 2.5 metres long with 2 metre throw @ 38kg.
1 x 4.5 metres long with 3 metre throw @ 62kg.
...and organising hire of Scaffold Towers plus "Grunts" to carry-out the heavy lifting...
This weekend - F1/GP2/GP3/Porsche @ Monza + WTCC @ Japan.
Next weekend - wiring in said canopies...

Re: fpotm!
Gelert, the fact that you omit to mention the MotoGP for this weekend's activities clearly disqualifies any other excuses.
Sidenote, when you succeed with your canopies could you stop by our place as we are looking at installing some at a difficult place.

Re: fpotm!
I watched a motor-bike drive past my driveway yesterday.
Does that allow me to comment?
(When I say 'motor-bike', for the sake of full and honest disclosure, it had two wheels but was powered by a hair-dryer engine.)

Re: fpotm!
I suppose that a hair-dryer engine can qualify technically as a motor, and so if it was mounted in a bike serving to power it then yes that would be a motor bike. As a result, feel free to continue to comment...

Re: fpotm!
The hair-dryer engine wasn't on fire - so I guess that it wasn't a Mercedes' hair-dryer?
S'trewth, a major PR 'mare: in front of their major sponsor, and they drop the ball like that!
Gotta go with 'The Conspiracy Theorists' - it's definitely 'cause he's black...

I seem to remember Hakkinen having a number of Mercedes engine blow-ups back in 1997... He wasn't black!

Re: fpotm!
1997? That was DC's year wasn't it...?
So nothing to do with black - although Scottishness might have equally applied, back then in the last century.
Still one of the greatest overtakes ever: MS vs MH both passing Zonta on either side at Spa.
DC hitting MS at Spa probably not so much though...
Yup - I remember Merc 'brewing-up' on a regular basis when they first entered F1 as engine suppliers, first to Sauber and then to Mac. Happy days...
Are we still allowed to play the occasional game of MS vs AS? Or is that too soon?

Re: fpotm!
I do believe it was MS hitting DC at Spa... Actually he did it once on the track, and then tried to do it again in the pits!
I would say it is never too soon to discuss MS vs AS, although I did prefer AP to AS at their time...

I don't know if you watch F1 via Sky (if you watch F1 at all?)
But for all of the various things that could arguably be wrong with Sky (don't get me started...!), their dedicated F1 channel is packed with historical coverage.
Those two particular (and related) events were broadcast the other day - and independent of the full race coverage (shown later)- in as much 'HD Quality' as is available.
Interesting how the passage of time and/or knowing what is going to happen re-focuses the mind toward a more 'neutral' perspective...

Re: fpotm!
No, I must admit that I don't watch F1 since a long time.
However, what I do is re-watch old races or season reviews while I do my indoor jogging during the cold months. Last spring I remember thoroughly enjoying going through 1997 again, and perhaps seeing things a bit different. I think the only thing that may be better today is the quality of the images...

Happy November to all of you! Was sort of stuck flying from Asia back to Europe and was a bit confused with timezones and stuff. Ah well, we will see for December.
