Re: My Grandson
But that Mitchell van Dijk seems really fast! Like way ahead of the others.
Ooops, actually I was looking at the total time, and not best lap time. Still, as a qualifying heat I'm guessing it is the overall time that counts. Otherwise Harry had the 4th fastest lap.

Re: My Grandson
Henrik, your 2 finishing places in the 2 qualifying sessions added together determines your position for Heat 1. Harry tied with No. 2 Siimesvaara Alvar on 13 points and will start 5th.
We think that may be an advantage, as he will get a tow from the drivers on 3 or 4.
We are very pleased with him so far, could not ask a lot more of him.

Re: My Grandson
First in the Pre Final, that gives him pole position for tomorrows final, can't ask for more than that.
Great driving from the front 3, they pulled away and then it was only between them for the last few laps.
Big Buzz after that.

Re: My Grandson
I'm so mad right now! I had the live stream going and was going to watch Harry's race. Then I got called in to a meeting just as the race started!!!!
Great job from the little guy and I would have loved to see him win that race.

Re: My Grandson
Okay, I have found the whole daily live feed on Youtube. For now yesterday's feed is available, so later I am sure I can get today's so as to watch Harry's race.
I did watch the one from yesterday though. I loved the commentator specifying that "Harry Hannam, the only driver that supports Millwall FC". I see you have some influence on the grandson!!!

Outstanding pass! Very well set up and executed, really shows that he is a thinking driver. The best was that he immediately managed to get a decent gap to not have to block anybody and could focus on his line. Damn he is good!

Dannyboy, in case it has not been done yet, we need to ensure that you name Harry as a Shamuist!

Re: My Grandson
Well done! It was a bit frustrating how he got caught up there and lost too many places. Looked like he was suffering a bit from straight line speed.

Re: My Grandson
H, yes I think he deserved a podium place, unlucky to get boxed in like that, but invaluable experience for him and he can still race that class next year.

Re: My Grandson
Hi, Yes he has signed up now and is development and test driver, on his first test he stopped the car after 5 laps and said the front was set up wrong, they made changes and he did another 5 laps and did the same. He then did 20 laps of which 15 were the fastest the cart had ever gone.
The cart is limited to 6000 revs at the moment but once the final tweeks have been done it will go to 8500 hopefully.
As well as his testing he will go to countries around the Gulf to do demonstration drives for potential customers and gets $750 for every cart sold.
My message to him after he won the championship sums up his season; Well done Harry, after 29 point scoring races over 8 meetings it all came down to the last race and 3 of you in with a chance of winning the UAE Rotax Championship and you pulled it off, winning I mean, not the wheel that came off on the first race on the Friday.
Well done to Alex, Zack, Danny and William for making it an exciting series.
All in all, he is a very happy kid and loving it at the moment. He will (hopefully) be in Austria and France later this summer for the European Rotax Championship.

Re: My Grandson
That is just great! He has been able to start young, is extremely talented and is enjoying it.
When I read about his exploits it does make me want to go back on a track again. I know there is a track not too far from here where I can rent a Rotax Max (although with a heavy rental chassis) and I am thinking of going this summer with some friends just to have some fun.

Re: My Grandson
I have checked the website for Linford Motorsports, and I wonder about the actual interest of this kart though. It uses the IAME X30 engine, putting out similar power to a Rotax Max (30hp) but it must weigh considerably more than a traditional kart. There is no indication of the actual weight, so I would be interested to know the performance of this kart in comparison to a traditional Rotax Max kart. With all the body work, I imagine it would be quite a bit more expensive too, not to mention repairs when the inevitable incidents happen.
Still, looks very cool, and those Hoosier tires reminds me of what I saw in the paddock at Sebring. Big fat tires!!
