Pirelli reveals final colour markings
By Pablo Elizalde Friday, March 18th 2011, 15:18 GMT http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90008

Pirelli has announced the colours that it will use to distinguish the six different types of tyre to be used during the 2011 season.

Each tyre will carry its own colouring on the Pirelli and PZero logos affixed to the sidewall.

The six colours are as follows:

Wet - orange
Intermediate - light blue
Supersoft - red
Soft – yellow
Medium – white
Hard – silver

"We're very excited by the prospect of returning to Formula 1 for the first time in 20 years, and we're aiming to be a proactive and colourful partner in Formula 1," said Pirelli's Paul Hembery. "So what better way to symbolise this than a brightly coloured selection of Pirelli logos to run on the sidewalls?

"These will enable both live and television audiences to tell at a glance who is on what compounds, which will be vital knowledge as tyres are set to form a key part of race strategy this year."

Pirelli will take the hard and soft compounds to the first three races of the season, meaning that silver and yellow tyres will be first to make an appearance in Australia.

Mmmmmm...not convinced myself with these tyre colours.
Red versus White is good - but Yellow versus Silver might be more problematic to spot quickly, especially under artificial / flood lighting.

Time will tell - but it's not auguring well for me just now.

That is easier to understand, than prime and option.

The silver and white are too close together visually, I think it'll be hard to differentiate them especially at speed.

White and silver- brilliant. not.
Bur it appears that they are not bringing the whites, so as long as they don't bring both to any wekend it should be allright. Maybe?

Yeh wondering why they didn't use green??

I don't think there will be a race where they'll be running both medium and hards (not planning to anyway! - let's see how the tyre degradation goes) so the white/grey shouldn't be a problem.
