Silverstone 2011
More important, Veze and Dan are coming down tonight and we are going to see sportscars race in Lime Rock, Connecticut.
My wife is as usual playing the martyr, same old same old. I am playing the asshole, same old same old.
But back in Silverstone........
New non-blown diffusers this weekend, right?

50 thousand moans from Mac and RBR...
Basically, off-throttle use of blown diffusers isn't allowed any more - except where there is an engine-reliability issue.
Therefore, Renault engines have now been allowed 50% of off-throttle blowing due to a dodgy design of exhaust valve that "will blow the engine up if over-run isn't allowed".
And Mercedes are allowed the same due to an equally dodgy design of crank-case which will over-pressurise and "will blow the engine up if over-run isn't allowed".
Ferrari comments haven't been made public (IMHO), but they'll probably be allowed the same 50% for parity reasons.
As for Cosworth - perhaps they can't achieve 50% over-run....?
The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Re: Silverstone 2011
Update - Mercedes are allowed to keep their off-throttle blowing allowance, but Renault have now had their 50% allowance REJECTED...!
C. Horner esq. is LIVID...!
Vettel was fastest at the end of FP3 though.

All change...
See your body melt - Mum to Mam to Damn to Dumb...Dad diddly office, Dad diddly office - it's all full of bull...

Formula 1's ruling body, the FIA, has decided to backtrack on its blown diffuser clampdown following days of controversy over the matter.
The FIA said on Saturday afternoon that if all Formula 1 teams agree, the clampdown will be withdrawn from the next race in Germany.
It said, however, that the rules would stay unchanged for this weekend's British Grand Prix.
Mum diddly-washing, Mum diddly-washing...
And as you listen to my voice, to look for hidden doors, tidy floors, more applause....

Great race, battles all the way through the field. Winner was unknown until maybe latter third of the race, it was anyone's for the taking until then.
So RBR have clear team orders ...surprise surprise.
Horner slammed Ferrari all last year proclaiming he lets his drivers race, there are no team orders at RBR, etc. I don't mind Horner but I don't like hypocricy.

I don't get Red Bulls team orders. Vettel is ahead in the point by over 4 race wins.

Re: Silverstone 2011
Well, I'll venture that Mr Horner didn't trust Mark not to take out both Red Bulls.
Good race, shame Veza and Dan had to leave during it.
And I didn't ask her to play our piano down in the basement, Danny, as it's horribly out of tune.

Re: Silverstone 2011
RBR at Silverstone wasn't too dissimilar to Ferrari in Austria 2002.
The difference being positions were exchanged but the intention was the same.
But there's hardly an uproar. Very strange.

good to see someone beat the quick kid... pity it had to be Alonso...
as for team orders at redbull, it wouldve been far too funny to hear the engineer over the comms to Vettel with, "Webber is quicker than you..." lol
