Dani: was so excited to see the first pictures of the F150 from Maranello this morning! :-) 2011 starts right now!!!! Forza Ferrari!

LOL!!! Yes, admitedly I have been running around like a chicken with my head off this week so I haven't had time to post! I just got promoted at my job and they transferred me to a different location (which is seriously 1 hour away from my place!) They are going to KILL me when I give them my notice! LOL! In addition, I was offered an entry level job with a PR company as well! I had to laugh, because if this had happened 1 year ago things might have been different. At least I know that I have made the right decision as neither one of these offers has tempted me into staying.

Anyway, back to the most important thing...FERRARI!!! I am really pumped about the F150. (despite cheap jabs at the name...a friend of mine even stopped by my office yesterday just to make fun of the name!lol!) The high nose is very cute and I am very confident about the reshuffeling that was done in the off season! Now all that's left to do is to wait and see if it's fast. I am full of hope for this year!

Apparently Ecoboost is the name of their kers system.

F150 for 150 years of Italian unification, hence the tricolori on the rear wing, and a little note with flag on the vertical fin in front of the sidepods. Nice touch I thought, good to see patriotism. Shame about the white of Santander!

The big news being, the exhausts are nowhere to be found at the rear of the car! Apparently they exit out the FRONT!! Rumour is that they exit near the front splitter near the front of the sidepods and blow either a front diffuser and/or the rear diffuser. Innovative indeed, if true...

It was discovered that when Vitaly was in a spin*, that he was actually faster when facing the wrong way than when he was facing the right way. As they had oodles* of data to compare, the boffins realised that they maybe onto something...

Rumours of the official launch date previously being April 1st are believed to be wide of the mark...

So - Mclaren, in last year's car, driven by a DTM Driver / F1 Tester, is SLOWER than another DTM Driver / F1 Tester in last year's Force India car - and yet both are faster than the NEW Ferrari in the hands of Nando.
And Hulkenberg, who's been dropped as an F1 Driver for 2011, in LAST year's Force India, is faster than just about anyone else, bar Vettel...



It's all over - can't wait for the 2012 season...

but the tyres will be the big worry... my money is on button in the mclaren come the checkers... he's quite a bit smoother than most the guys i think.

I've read quite a bit about this new exhaust principle since you broke the news here...! I'm waiting for the full technical explanations to appear - and to see whether it'll become a "magic bullet" or another Williams Walrus Tusk "success" story. But radical thinking in the first instance.
Probably wouldn't work on my Golf though - I drive with the window down all the time, and I'd probably end-up asphyxiating myself...!

Jens has got to sort-out his qually pace this season - that let him down very badly last year. But for that, he was on Lewis' pace more often than not. If he can nail qually, as you say his smooth style on these "aggressively" designed tyres should pay dividends.


*EDIT* Mac have gone for pull-rod rear suspension this season, as per last year's RBR...which hopefully will allow them to stop looking like the car has NO suspension...

...and then they've fitted the Official Press Launch car with a plastic engine and exhaust...

Ferrari rebrands car after dispute

Ferrari has officially renamed its new Formula 1 car the 'F150th Italia' as an act of good faith to avoid confusion with Ford, in the wake of the American car company going to court over what it claims is a trademark infringement.

Ford's F-150 truck is a top-seller in the United States and the car manufacturer believes Ferrari breached its trademark in naming its new challenger the F150.

Although Ferrari has decided to rebrand its car, the F1 team says it does not understand why Ford believes there is any confusion.

"On the subject of the name of the new Ferrari Formula 1 car, the Maranello company wishes to point out that it has sent a letter of reply to Ford, underlining the fact that the F150 designation (used as the abbreviated version of the complete name, which is Ferrari F150th Italia) never has, nor ever will be used as the name of a commercially available product - indeed there will definitely not be a production run of single-seaters," said a statement issued by Ferrari.


* Rumours that Dodge are also to issue legal proceedings against Ferrari, for using the word "challenger", are believed to be wide-of-the-mark - mainly due to Dodge being a part of the Chrysler Group LLC which has an alliance with Fiat...

More that I disagree with Ford. If they were running a single seat truck with slick Pirelli's in Ecclestone's circus their argument could have some validity.
