Yeah, good on Williams and Maldonado for not caving under pressure and saving enough tyres while Alonso used up his.

Huge fire erupted in the Williams garage whilst Frank was giving a celebration speech.
Everybody evacuated - other teams helped out with fire extinguishers.
Vague reports of smoke inhalation casualties, and of someone with their legs on fire. These casualties at the local medical centre, with the Air ambulance on standby.

Nice race. I wonder now why Williams set the garage on fire.

That really sucks. Curious to find out the extent of the damage.
Hope any injuries are minor and that everyone can go racing in the Monaco royal parade.

That was a nasty explosion, reportedly sparked by a kers unit.

fire aside, what a race!
this season is the best i've seen so far, with half of the grid being competitive for points. it is far from predictable and the margins are paper thin. this is how F1 should be all the time, where you have to earn every position, and every point.
bravo to williams, hopefully this is the beginning of a new era of results, as i feared they nearly disappeared last year with poor results. im not going to miss a single race this year i hope.

Re: Spanish predictions- version 2012
Pastor officially gets pole position (in the statistics) because Lewis was excluded (DSQ). Last Williams pole was Brazil 2010 in the hands of Hulkenberg.
Really surprising result, the top 2 anyway. Looked like Lotus should have had the win but for a poor decision to double stint the options, that cost Raikkonen a sure victory.
Still, nothing to take away from Maldonado/Williams and Alonso/Ferrari - superb, the former especially. He showed in GP2 he could hold it together and I'm glad he was able to do the job from pole.
First time since 1983 that we've had 5 winners in the first 5 races.
And who would have thought that Alonso would be equal leader in the Championship with that dog of a car?!? Crazy!

That fire was awful, just saw the Sky coverage on it now. Just read that 20 were injured, one seriously. What a terrible incident.

Is it just me, but does M$'s penalty seem harsh? From the helicopter it looks like Senna swerved to block, and was collected.

I have no idea what Senna was doing, but it looked like MS simply misjudged the speed differential. I think whenever someone shunts another up the backside it's difficult to blame the guy in front unless there's some major swerving action - which is what confused this incident I guess.

Maybe it is a delayed penalty for that accident in Spa all those years ago....
Ok...
