I don't know why it took the NYTimes this long to figure out the place was rich with minerals. Most of those caves are old mines.

that BP spill is as much to do with US policy to not buy oil from the middle east as it is to do with greed.

so how it will it end years from now:

- coalition forces protecting the foreign owned mining fields?
- trade sanctions on taliban mines?

do you really think the afghan government will own and operate the mines? i didnt think so
