Henrik did you see Stoner going through T1 in Q?
OMG...does he even use TC?
Racer X you watching the race tomorrow?
Q worked out pretty much like I thought...I see the JT decided to retire from MotoGP a race early.

Re: Valencia
I can tell you Stoner was fucking amazing in the qualifying!!!! I have seen him on a number of tracks before, but never have I seen this much determination. Seriously impressive stuff. Either he has nothing in his head, or he has about the biggest balls ever!
Then he went and threw it away in the warm up lap....
I will get back to write some more later, and post a bunch of photos I took over the weekend.

Thanks Henrik...too bad for Casey...but it was great end to the year...the 250cc race was freaking awesome as well.
How about that Ben Spies...I can't wait to see Simoncelli and Bautista next year....I'm really wondering what Loris and some of the other elder statesman are going to do with this crop of rookies.

Indeed, the fight between Aoyama and Simoncelli was great until Aoyama messed up his entry to T1 (incidentally, we were just in the inside of T1 for most of the race). Then Simoncelli messed up. We saw him get on the gas a bit too much exiting T1, and he never really regained control in to T2, and then lost the front.
Now the Ben was extremely impressive. He had a solid race, took time to learn things, and was steadily making up positions. It was fun to watch him in the qualifying as well, as he would often follow Rossi around the track.
Oh, and the 125 race probaly the best of the day. Being there at T1 it was great seeing come in maybed 4 bikes wide each lap.

Re: Valencia
yeah, spies was good the way he started to make more progress once everyone's tyres started to go off... you'd expect it to be the other way around with a rookie to the series. impressive!
nice ride from pedrosa too... but a weird moment for stoner... one of the first things one of our nob-end commentators, greg rust, said, was something like "infront of 100 thousand people, stoner has dropped it on the warmup lap!?!" lol what a narcisistic fkwit... and how many millions on tele, nob-end? lol

Stoner's crash reminds me of Roberto Guerrero's parade lap crash from pole during the 92 Indy 500!

Re: Valencia
H8R,
Sorry, missed the race...was doing a Track Day all day Sunday at Cresson in Ft.Worth. It was a good day, unfortunately, I had my first off. Minimal damage to the bike: YEAH!!! Little dmage to myself...bruised ribs.
I did face plant and put a stress fracture in my helmet...LOL, but I think it actually helped me...knocked sopme sense into the O'l noggin!
Wuff, I wouldn't be so upset, but it was a teenage kid that came down inside of me, low sided and slid flush right up into me on the "horseshoe"...a rather high speed parabolica typre turn. His momentum carried me right off to the grass, and instantly I face planted. Bruised ego hurts worse than the head...lol, ribs hurt worse than anything right now.
I scuffed the plastics pretty well, and bent the clutch lever. Pretty lucky when I look at the speed at which we went off. I could have squeezed the poor kid, but it wouldn't have been very Christian of me, and I really couldn't put any pressure on his head with my left arm, so I let him go with a pretty firm tongue lashing. I mean really, what was he thinking?
I asked him if he was going for the trophy they hand out in the third session (which they don't...it's a track day...practice) for quickest to the end of the main straight and he just gave me the deer in the headlights look, and I knew then he didn't get it so any further tongue lashing would be nothing but a waste of energy.
Henrik- Glad to hear you enjoyed the race!!! I'm looking forward to seeing your pics!!!

Re: Valencia
Trackdays scare me. Racers think like racers....they know the cost in flesh and parts. Most trackday guys think they're are Rossi.
Since the bike has been Rx it's time to get her some race plastics and get your license!

Re: Valencia
H8r...funny, I was just thinking about that. I'm really at a crossing point:
I was talking to my brother about it. I've found the left side Yamaha factory in the plastic fairing from Sum of all Parts. They aren't too bad. However, I am pretty confident I won't be riding the streets any more. Sooo, common sense says get some race plastics. My brother said yeah, turn a $8k bike into a $3k bike by spending money on it for race plastics...LOL. It makes me think, but it's not like I'm going to re-sell it...unless I want to slide up to a litre bike. Decisions-decisions...
Not sure where to go from here...
As for the license...I couldn't imagine...I'm freaking crusty old compared to the kids out there, and I'm not sure what I'd do with it. I really enjoy Track Days when they're organized well & not over sold. This past week was horrible; over sold and not regulated by the instructors much. Pretty bad day, at one point I'd guess there were 40 to 45 bikes on a 1.7 mile track!!!
Elite Track Days limits ALL sessions to 20 riders, period. They won't ever over sell an event.
H8R, look for a reply to your e-mail sometime tomorrow!!! I couldn't get to it this week-end...
Thanks,
Rx

Re: Valencia
Damn bikes are cheap in your part of the world!!! I'm getting really jealous.
Sorry to hear about your crash RX. It really sucks when it is not your fault, but some hot head.
While we were in Singapore I looked at doing track days at Sepang. It was only about a 3 hour drive away, and the track was amazing. I had a guy there who would rent me a Honda 600 that was track prepared. But then I found out that they let everybody out at the same time. There would be maybe up to a hundred bikes on track at the same time, with everything from little 50cc scooters to proper Superbikes. Totally nuts!!! So, I never went.....
When I did go on the Island we would be 20 riders max each time, and it was just the best.

Ahhhh, Henrik...speaking of "the Island".....I know it's a different hemisphere, but has anyone here ever been to the Isle of Mann?????
Wow, THAT would be a dream trip for me.
Just curious...
Later,
Rx
