Farewell Bernie...

Officially today with FIA approval, Formula One Management becomes the charge of Chase Carey and Liberty Media. Ecclestone stays on as honorary chair and an "adviser."

The transaction is quoted as representing an enterprise value of $US 8 billion, and an equity value of $4.4 billion.

The current WDC, Nico Rosberg, tweeted... "Bernie, mega job! But a change has been overdue. Mr Carey, all the best in making our sport awesome again."

Put that on a red hat and you could become POTUS. But, being in charge of F1, thats REAL POWER. All I want is for them to make them sound like race cars again.

His leaving the sport was so overdue, and as far as I'm concerned he has turned me off the sport for good.

I do still enjoy watching old races though. And luckily for me there is still motorcycle racing!

He may have overstayed his welcome, but he really transformed the sport in his multi-decade long tenure. A huge contribution that will probably never be matched.
