Damn stolen feed crashed my computer 4 times during the race. Might have to get rid of this 2002 windows XP.

I actually watched the entire race. Well, I tried to, I fell asleep for a while there in the middle, but i was in front of the TV throughout. It was the first time since a while, and since so many people around me had been building up this hype about it being so exciting because four drivers could win the title and all, it was made out to be the race of the century. Umm....

First of all, I thought the track facility looks stunning. Building a luxury marina with a race track in the middle, and a hotel over the last turn on to the starting straight looks really cool. And with those painted rugged strips replacing the gravel pits like at the Castellet makes it all look very futuristic, almost like watching a video game. I also thought it looked cool from a lighting perspective to have a race start in daylight and then end at night under the spotlights.

The problem is, a video game would have been so much more exciting. If it wasn't for M$ loosing it like a total rookie, and then being hit by Liuzzi, there would have been absolutely no action at all!!! For crying out loud, there is more action in one single corner, not even one lap, of a motorcycle race than in those 90 minutes. Seriously, WTF!!!

How can there still be so much money being poured in to such a spectacle? Rolling billboards going around lap after lap, and most of the cars don't even look good! I think the contraption going under the name of Lotus was the only half decent looking car out there, but then it doesn't seem to be all that well put together...

One thing is for sure, watching that did absolutely nothing to tempt me to watch any more. In fact, it simply confirmed the fact that I am not missing out on anything since I stopped watching this spectacle. At least the right man won, and Red Bull came through without any team orders to help them. Well done, and a victory to fair racing. A small consolation, but a consolation nevertheless....

Crikey Henrik - just as well that you're not a Ferrari / Alonso fan, or you'd really be depressed.

Taken as a "race", it certainly wasn't stellar.
BUT - taken as the Championship Decider, within the context of the whole season it was nail-biting.

Absolutely delighted that RBR won, and that it was done with NO team orders.
Also delighted to see the 2008 & 2009 WDCs alongside the new WDC - it somehow made the podium celebration more apt.
Absolutely thrilled that Nando lost - although I fear that, as Dani says elsewhere, heads might roll. I've actually warmed to Stephano - which has by contrast sharpened my hatred for Luca. Whatever, the way that RBR didn't order / move their drivers about, especially at Brazil, makes their WDC so much sweeter.

Can't wait for next season. Only 16 weeks to go....!

The track might look stunning, but the layout sucks. The fact that you can't pass just makes the event boring.

I'm not depressed, just disappointed. I would have hoped that with a chance to win the chapionship Alonso would have tried absolutely everything to get there. His occasional passing attempts to pass were just pathetic. It was like, if you can't win due to proper pit strategy, you can't win. Why even bother to finish the race?

I agree that it looks like it is difficult to pass on that track, but there were at least two place were it would have been possible if a driver was just a little bit more committed to it.

This is particularly where I find there is such a big difference with the bike riders. You will still see them tempt the impossible, and sometimes make it. Here it was like, oh well...

No, I'm not depressed about it. I just think it is a pity that you get drivers being paid silly amounts of money, in cars developed at insance costs, and then they just putter around because there is no hope to pass. There is no passion left in these guys. No fighting spirit. They are just like me, bankers....

Compared to the little bit of MotoGP I watched this year the Abu Dhabi GP was full of excitement, perhaps it's just perspective.

Perhaps da Silva, but the excitement was not on the track. There were no fights for position, no extraordinary driving, nothing if you like that stood out visiually. The excitement was only in the fact that Ferrari fucked up their tire strategy, and then Alonso sat there in eighth behind Petrov until the end. Shaking his fist at Petrov after the race certainly didn't bring any additional excitement for me...

But I agree with you to the extent that this year MotoGP resembled F1 more than ever in the past. Look to Moto2 instead...

All this reminds me of Peter Ustinov's line that.... "the others might lose..."

Like Monaco. Kings absolutely love parades, don't they?

Cine- I think it is still a "grown man's sport". The problem is that we are now grown men (and women), and so our perspective has changed.

Or the sport HAS changed, but also the world in which it exists has changed, and so have we.

Looking back will only get you a pillar of salt to bring a tear to your eye. Just ask Lot's wife. Dry your eyes, look forward, carry on.
