The Brazil Thread!
Ok people, the moment is upon us. Will Button take the championship or will Binno take it another round?! I hope that Rubens can do it, I really do. Button really doesn't deserve this championship and you guys all know how much I love Rubens!
On a side note...I'm pissed, I have to work Saturday and am therefore going to miss qualifying! Grumble! I'm not even working with anyone fun so it's gonna be a snoozefest as well!

Re: The Brazil Thread!
Actually, Button DOES deserve the championship, it's a math thing. Reubens or Vettel will take it, but Buitton will get enough points to clinch the title.
I predict a snoozefest, unless it rains, which last time it did that, didn't Reubens ALMOST win? It would be cool for him to finally get this one.
gueuzegirls birthday party today ( 9 years old) so no qually for me either.

Too much to do today, so prolly won't catch qualy. Don't expect it to be very exciting.
Happy B-day to the littlest Gueuze!

Re: The Brazil Thread!
FP1 & 2 were interesting but entirely inconclusive. FP3 was a total washout - only 18 minutes of practice due to the rain, curtailed to 15 minutes after Grosjean dumped-it into the barrier with 3 minutes to go.
So I can't guess at qually or the race with any degree of certainty - hence I've split across RBR, Brawn, and Lewis + Vettel - again...!
Jenson will either win this or finish just inside the points IMHO.
Vettel will go for it as he has to....it's win-or-bin.
Lewis will enjoy this track for the first time - his previous two visits have been under championship pressure. So he'll either win it or bin it as well.
Both Renaults are struggling, especially in the wet - too little ride-height...?
Happy b'day to Gueuzette Minor - and cheers for the salutations earlier in the week G'man...
*EDIT* All is going well, according to my extremely cunning plan...BWAH HA Ha ha...
Bollocks!!!!!

How's that plan looking now Gelert...
Really, to go off on a cynical tangent, the script writers have been working overtime (Borrowing a phrase from gueuze). I think they did some quick revisions to the script when SV didn't make it out of Q1. That effectively killed him so they ordered JB to go for a Sunday drive around on Q2...
We'll have a manufactured conclusion guaranteed to boost rating for the inaugural Abu Dhabi GP.
Then again, we all know Rubens won't finish the race... in which case all that script writing is for naught...

Well, there you have it.
I think it was a great drive by Button today. Ross Brawn really is a brilliant guy to have pulled this season out like this.
Lots of on track passes in this race too. I really enjoyed watching this one.
And Danny, I do think his championship is comparable to Damon Hill's: Were it not for being in the right place at the right time it would never have happened for either of them,

I was one lucky fuck, I tell thee...eso wrote:How's that plan looking now Gelert...
I only slipped 3 places in the overall rankings, despite much heckling from Shunt...!
GREAT race - JB & LH & SV all displayed true Champion drives.
Rubens - if he didn't have bad luck at Interlagos, he'd have no luck.
And a huge result for Bobby.
I was impressed with Kamui Kobayashi. I saw him win the GP2 Asia WDC earlier this year, but he didn't do anything brilliant when he moved up to the GP2 Europe series this year. Arguably he teased a couple of other drivers off the circuit at this F1 race - but no more than MS or JPM would have done IMHO.
And the way that he otherwise fought-off faster cars was excellent. Expect to see him in the Toybota next year.
Vettel or Rubens for WDC runner-up at Abu Dhabi...? Best ask Shunt - he's "Mr. Maximum Points" in this last race...

The scream heard around my apartment complex this morning was "KIMMMIIIII!!!!!!!" I totally freaked out for a second there when he caught on fire!
As for the result...I am pissed! I really wanted Rubens to take it to the last round...oh well, another year another lameo WDC!lol!

Re: The Brazil Thread!
Dani, I think Ruben was hard done by, 1st they fueled him too lightly for qualifying (a 21 second pit time on a 1.14 second race lap is a big disadvantage compared to a 1.30 lap) and then the safety car came out (for to long in my opinion, and the deployment was quite possible giving the conditions over the race weekend)).
His race was then further screwed by Ross Brawn giving him a long first pit stop, he would have been better having 1.5 seconds less fuel and coming out in front of Button and Nakajima and immediately being overtaken by Vettel, as an example, Kubica pitted 3 laps later, but came out in front of Ruben. Even after that, his car was "mysteriously" not as good as his first stint and then the puncture, well, that just compounded a day when he was destined never to win.
As for Burron driving a great race, he was beaten by Hamilton and Vettel, who both started behind him. Suti, Alonso, Trully, and Raikkonen would have finished in front of him but for a first lap accident, and Nakijima and Rosberg would have finished in front of him had they not had forced retirements. For me, Button won the first 6 races in an unbeatable car, had has not preformed as a racing driver since.
There is very little pressure on any driver at Abu Dhabi, it is a track that nobody has driven before, lets see how they all preform.

Would would would. Senna would have beaten him had he not died at Monza a long time ago.

The first lap crash, then the safety car, ruined the race as a spectacle, it was basically all over after that.

So which of his two deaths is Bernie referring to here...? :
Senna death was 'good for F1' - Ecclestone 19/10/09 15:49 http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/091019154900.shtml
After enraging the world earlier this year with his remarks about such people as Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein being good at getting things done, Bernie Ecclestone is once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Sections of the international media are reporting disbelief at the F1 chief executive's latest controversial comments about the late triple World Champion Ayrton Senna.
After greeting Senna's sister Viviane and her son Bruno - who may have a Formula One seat next year - in the Interlagos paddock at the weekend, the 78-year-old was quoted as saying the Brazilian hero's death during the 1994 world championship was ultimately "good for F1".
"He was unfortunate," Ecclestone told the local Folha de S.
Paulo newspaper, "but the publicity generated by his death was so much... it was good for F1.
"It was a shame that we had to lose Ayrton, but it happened. He was very popular, but the actual event interested so many people who did not know about the sport," he added.
