2017 Season
The season kicks off next week. New cars, more speed, and far cooler liveries. It's a big change in F1.
Clearly 2016 didn't inspire any of us with not a single post about any of the races! Spain and Austria were highlights when the two Mercedes either took each other out or tried to...
I'm somewhat excited (relatively speaking) given the testing form from Ferrari last week. Is it really possible that the one horse race formula has come to an end? I damn well hope so although fear the big gap to the next bunch of teams.

Re: 2017 Season
I'm not sure if it was last season that didn't inspire people here. It is more down to the fact that Facebook has killed forums. We are just a handful of diehards that still come back to this place, and it just doesn't really work in getting discussions and debates going.
Then there is the fact that I have not been watching F1 for well over ten years which kinda rules me out from the equation. So, I really have no clue as to what is going on. Although I did read somewhere that Mika has rejoined Mclaren in some sort of ambassador role...
I will certainly be keeping up with the bike racing though. And obviously check in here to see who might still be around.

Re: 2017 Season
F1
Man I used to love it. I used to think of F1 as a friend that I outgrew. Now it's more like an old girlfriend. Ya, I kinda like to see her naked again, but it's not worth the work. If it wasn't for Top Gear before the land ape left I'd know nothing about F1. The F1 drivers in the reasonably priced car was a Fav on that show. I did dig the Grand Tour this year...I think it will get better...really wish they'd get F1 drivers segment...but doubtful
Cheers

Re: 2017 Season
I still follow F1, but that is for the tech more than the racing. The new cars are nice and the wider tyres are going to speed things up a bit.
Judging from Albert Park Ferrari closed the gap enough that Mercedes has little to no margin for error: they made a bad pit call for Lewis and it cost them the race. Even in Qualifying the came striaght out on the ultra soft tyres which seemed to me to prove they are nervous about Ferrari's pace.
At the same time Red Bull seems to be on their back foot right now. The season could be a little interesting.
Cheers Everyone!

YEah Red Bull's on the back foot a bit because they need to re learn how to set up the car after they had to alter their suspension. Mercedes also affected hence the higher tyre wear.
Rory Byrne played a big role in the design of the SF70H although they call him a "consultant".
This car is more his than James Allison's because James departed before he finished the project. A lot of Rory's philosophies are appparent on the car. The F2004, F2007 and F2008 are very clearly its direct ancestors.
Also I had breakfast with him before Christmas and he told me so .

Would love to hear more Raptor...
Nearly half-way point in the Championship and it is game-on. Vettel leads by 1 point over Hamilton and Bottas not far behind. 1 Ferrari vs 2 Mercs for the title.
