MotoGP 2016
Any new rumblings from the MotoGP Paddock?
After the limp-dick end of last season I'm hoping to see some good racing to rival the first 3/4 of last season. So who thinks what is going to happen?

I'm sure it will be great. Lot's of new cards throwing things up in the air such as the standard ECU as well as the switch from Bridgestone to Michelin.
It will still be the same guys out front, and Marquez will be hungry for revenge. Rossi coming back for yet another season will certainly help maintain the interest as to if the old guy can still do it.
Expect a large number of crashes in the first few races due to the new tires, which will help keep the championship a bit more open.

Testing at Phillip Island this week.
As far as I'm aware it's not open to public, does anyone know how one could possible get in anyway?

No idea, other than knowing somebody from the team or perhaps the FIM. We were very close friends of the president of FIM of Oceania Darryl Hiddle, and he would certainly have been able to help you out. Unfortunately he passed away in 2013.
You could just go there and try and talk your way in. I mean, it is Australia!

Sorry to hear that Henrik. Didn't get a chance to reply before we left but I did manage to read your post.
We decided to try our luck as suggested and managed to find an area that happened to be doing tours. So we got to watch the track action from a vantage point where you could see 75% of the circuit (behind Gardner Straight) and saw many riders fall at Turn 4 (what used to be called Honda). It was a little far away in that it was hard to tell which of the team-mates you were watching but live timing helped.
With the tour, we managed to get into race control and the timing tower during the lull from rain which was a little plus. Only saw one rider in the paddock, of course it had to be Lorenzo...

Re: MotoGP 2016
Great to hear you were able to go! I saw on Facebook that Dany was down there too, and at least she was happy to see Lorenzo... Looks like you had typical Phillip Island weather too.
If the Suzuki will hold up, I think we might get to see the development of yet another alien in the form of Maverick. Ever since Moto3 I have been a fan, and getting the best time of the week will confirm that he indeed has it.
As for the rest, it is hard to draw any real conclusions, other than we will probably be seeing a similar dominance between the two Hondas and the two Yamahas up front again this year.

Re: MotoGP 2016
Well duh! Crappy MotoGP race but a great Moto3 race.
I am enjoying the fact that Vale still is able to play games though. Announcing he has signed with Yamaha until the end of 2018 sort of messes things up for Jorge. Now there is talk he might go to Ducati next year, and Maverick will join Rossi at Yamaha! Yay!!
I do hope the races get a bit more interesting though.

Try new F1...!
Format NFG? - no problemo - just change it for the next race...
Wanna some action? Nando goes 'Human cannonball', justa for you...
New F1 - just like the old F1, but, er, um, something, er different - in a similar kinda type-stuff way...

Have you seen any of the WSBK races? I actually like the idea of having race 1 on Saturday and race 2 on Sunday. Kawasaki keeps dominating.

It was a pretty uneventful race at the front.
Well, Argentina this weekend. Maybe some more action.

Dang tire woes and weather....I wonder how MOTOGP will go.
Anyone else hear the rumor that Lorenzo is going to Ducati. Seems Yamaha was talking about it.

I wonder if that will work out as well for him as it did for Rossi...

Re: MotoGP 2016
Well that was a bit more entertaining! I am sure Iannone will have to calm down a bit now though, with the two Ducatis pretty much secured on the podium he manages to take them both out!
Pity that Rossi was not able to stay with Marquez after the bike switch a things were really getting interesting there at mid race.

Re: MotoGP 2016
Yeah, Rossi just wasn't feeling the second bike. The Ducatis and ViƱales gifted P2 to Rossi.
And I wonder what was up with Lorenzo? It was a pretty messy race overall, but a good watch.

This move to th Bien Network is pissing me off. I shouldn't have to pay for a special subscription to watch MotoGP.

Re: MotoGP 2016
H8R, it seems Ducati is offering $10 million for Lorenzo, which is more than the $6 million offered by Yamaha. He doesn't have the same level of personal sponsors as Rossi (and that is no surprise!!) so he might actually be tempted. You know that should he succeed in winning on that bike, like Stoner, it will certainly allow a lot of people to say he is better than Rossi. If he doesn't, it will not really hurt his image as nobody would expect him to succeed.

Re: MotoGP 2016
Wow, Austin was a bloodbath. Marquez walked away with a pretty flawless race.
Pedrosa taking out Dovisioso was brutal, and then was it Crutchlow followed by Smith into turn 10? The little hop Crutchlow did when smith's bike sailed past him was kind of funny.
Marquez is off to a strong start this season.

Re: MotoGP 2016
I was surprised by Rossi making such a mistake as he is usually so good in tricky grip conditions.
I do feel really sorry for Dovi though, now being knocked out of pretty certain podium positions two races in a row. That must hurt!
Finally, it seems as if the Lorenzo move to Ducati is becoming more and more certain. We should know by Jerez.

Lorenzo to Ducat confirmed today, in spite of Yamaha increasing their offer to $8 million. Could be interesting...

OK. That could mix things up a bit. He's fast and could be good for a bit extra on that bike, but would it be enough?

Re: MotoGP 2016
The thing is, since Ducati poached Ggi Dal'Igna from Aprilia, they have begun going in the right direction again. The bikes are better, and the two Andreas are regularly near the top. Lorenzo is fast, but I wonder if his smooth style will suit the bike. Stoner was something totally different, but then so was the bike back then.
I think this could be interesting, and it will open up a spot at Yamaha for Maverick!
