I am really embarrassed over my fellow country people's response to world events.

A nationalistic fervor of chest-thumping mindlessness completely oblivious to how much that attitude has been escalating tensions for decades.

I've got to stay off social media for a while...

I suppose what happened in Paris last night unfortunately plays in favour of those that are very much responsible for the current situation in the Middle East. The Islamic State is to a large extent the result of the US meddling in the area ever since 9/11,

Yeah... You'd be shocked (or not) at how people here have no idea of how much the US has meddled with regimes throughout the Middle East for a very long time.

I look at the history and I am surprised it took so long for this kind of backlash to come about.

And on my FB newsfeed it's just lit up with a huge amount of nationalistic fervor and anti-muslim sentiment.

It's really sad, and yes, it does play right into the hands of the chicken hawks and arms manufacturers.

They have been pursuing Zionist interests since 1917 and before, what you see today has been a long time in the making.

This fella was thought of as a bit of a loon in his early days, but history has proved him to have a lot better understanding of the world than Tony Blair/George Bush and many others did.

He was also right on Jimmy Savile and M. Thatcher on pedophile and necrophilia, long before others were saying it.

YAY!
Go Putin! cheers

Jeez - this could really bring out the F1 'Fan-Boy':
The minute your favourite driver leaves 'The Dark Side' and joins one of the 'White Hat' teams, and suddenly they can do no wrong...

Wonder what T3 made of the 'evil Nando' when he left Mac and eventually joined the Scuderia?

Crikey! - that's got the word 'Scud' in it - whatever happened to them, eh?

As a new wave of nationalistic fervor and indignation washes over the world... Empty Re: As a new wave of nationalistic fervor and indignation washes over the world...

Post by Henrik Thu Nov 19 2015, 21:00

After the recent events in Paris, I decided to go digging on the old Shamucroaks forum that was active shortly after the 9/11 attacks. Yep, it is all still there to read, and there are some pretty interesting posts. We had great discussions, that sometimes got rather heated, but mostly remained civil. I sort of miss getting really passionate about such discussions, and find it hard to discuss with people through today's ephemeral media like facebook and Twitter. Anyway, I just wanted to share a post by JWK in 2002. He was still a teenager back then...

First of all, this is not a post aimed at harassing the US, or Americans, its just that Bush seems intent on making a volitile situation in the Middle east.

First up, attacking Iraq is foolish is Bush's goals really were to irradicate terrorism. Historically, Hussains's ruthless regime has been the regions main enemy of the Wahhabi strain of Islam that inspired Bin Laden, the Teliban and the september 11 hijackings.

And get this, Iran has allways been the most reliable sponsor of the Tajik forces within the northern alliance- esp during the 1990's, when pakistan and the US chose to support some truly ghastly alternatives, up to and including the taliban. The northern alliance frontline forces in the war against terror have excellent reason to regard Iran very fondly- being monetarily reliant.

Iran if you forget was condemned by Bush as part of the 'axis of evil" that sponsors terrorism worldwide, but the forces that the US worked with in Afghanistan(and who bore the brunt of casualties and spilled blood for the cause) are in close cahoots with Iran, who happens to be the sworn enemy of Saddam Hussain.

Thus, in the name of fighting militant Islam, the US is aligning itself- in military reality- with the seedbed of revolutionary Islam and against the most secular country in the middle east. go figure.

If the west is serious about containing Islamic fundamentalism (Of which most of the alleged "terror networks" are born), then logically the US should be seeking an alliance with Saddam, not trying to topple him. Saddam has been fighting Islamic fundamentalism for 30 years, the reason the US aligned themselves with him in the 80's was because he was judged(correctly) as a bulwark against Iran. If Bush is serious about war on terror, the last thing he should be doing is going after Iraq, removing Hussain will not only create the potential for the rise of islamic fundamentalists in Iraq itself, but also destabilise modern arab leaders in Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Iraq is less deadly then it may seem(i wrote a bit about it in the Bush Vs Churchill thread) as when Baghdad and Kofi Annan met to discuss letting Weapons inspectors back into Iraq, Baghdad was open to the idea, so long as some of the US imposed sanctions were lifted(which by the way have effectively killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians through economic starvation and imposed poverty) but Kofi was forced to walk away from the talks as he was being prevented by the US to adress real security issues.

The thing is, if the weapons inspectors are let back into Iraq and find little or no "Weapons of mass destuction", which is quite possible(seeing as how no-one has provided any real proof that these weapons exist) then the US would be left without a leg to stand on in its goal to take out Saddam, aside from Bush's personal vendetta.

So if The US could not be there to fight terrorism, then it would have to take out Saddam to restore democracy to the people. Once Hussain was removed from power the real problems would begin as if they were really serious on democracy, that would mean one of the Shi'ite majority would most likely be elected, and considering that in neighbouring Iran the revolutionary Shi'ite reigeme is empowered, this could have drastic consequences.

Hmm, im rambling, but i think i got across the fact that i think to invade Iraq would be sheer folly

I wrote this on the 13th. I shut off my FB 3-4 years ago. Too many assholes with too much time.

Anyone these were my thoughts...
Paris November 13th, 2015:

My zen budist side is whispering in my ear to relax and take a breath.

My uncle Tony who fought for Gen. George Patton all through Europe is screaming in my other ear to go get our most uncompromising General and most lethal weaponry and fuck the Islamic militants all the way into their graves.

My brain is like whatever we do, for fucks sake don't let this event cause us Americans to elect elect Donald Trump or one of those other fuckwits.

Yeah, we tend to laugh off some leaders in other countries like Kim Jong Un and Robert Mugabe simply because those nations are not particularly significant on the global level. But now we have the worlds most powerful nation showing signs that its people may just elect somebody on the same level as those guys.

My personal opinion is that if the US actually does elect Trump or Carson or any of the other Republicans as president in the next election, the UN security council should revoke the US citizens right to vote due to incompetence. It would be a case of global security, not national security!

There are certainly a number of things I don't like about Hilary, but personally I would feel much safer with her as president of the US than Trump.

I would say any of the democrats would be better than any of the republicans. And some of the republicans, if not all of them, are downright scary!
