I dwell in the land of Shamu

My wife and I spent 90 minutes in the presence of around 18-20 Transient orcas this morning, in the wild... the adventure outfitters Orca Spirit Adventures have a flickr account with a large catalogue of images... they will be posting some of this morning's a little later.

Our home is in victoria, BC now, and we live about 5 minutes' walk from the Coast Marina on the Inner Harbour... There are about 8 orca tours operating at present - one of which is OSA whose offices are in the Coast Hotel. Magical.

Wow! Just wow!

I would love to see some orcas in the wild some time. Maybe we should make it out to BC one of these days!

Twice in the past month, a pod of transient orcas has visited the Victoria harbour.  The footage here was taken from various points around the "Laurel Point" narrows... my strata building is in the background of the video that starts with the patrol boat and kayaker in the foreground and a view of the Laurel Point hotel.  In other words, they passed within 100 meters of my home. At about the 57 second mark, you will see the "Coast Hotel marina"-- we live in the Harbourside development next to it. I do dwell in the Spirit of Shamu.

That is so cool, and I would say taking our shamu cult to the extreme!
