Spa 2014
Even before the start of Free Practice 1, and we have "opportunities"...
Max Chilton is being replaced by Alexander Rossi - "for the weekend", whatever that means - at Marussia.
And some dude called Andre Lotterer is replacing Kamui Kobayashi at Caterham - for the rest of the season.
Looking forward to tomorrow's FP1 - first day of my Annual Leave - with lots for the Sky coverage pundits to discuss already!!

Suspect everybody left to be a-fly-on-the-wall in Merc HQ after the race...Henrik wrote:Not a lot of activity on here eh?

Good last couple of laps, good to see Alonso get the treatment from Magnussen.
Never warmed to Rosburg, even less after the pathetic shunt into the back of Hamiltons car.

Lotterer out qualifies his teammate by 1 second, and his car blows shortly after the start. Poor guy couldn't get a break.

I'll hold my hand up and say that I'd never heard of the bloke before the weekend, not being a WEC/LeMans fan/aficionado.TopContender wrote:Lotterer out qualifies his teammate by 1 second, and his car blows shortly after the start. Poor guy couldn't get a break.
And what a heritage he has...
There was a fair amount of in-depth "History" type-stuff from Anthony Davidson on the Sky coverage, as it transpires that Lotterer & Davidson are rivals/ex-team-mates in Endurance Racing.
And what a fantastically calm/experienced/realistic/genuine guy Lotterer appeared to be throughout the weekend.
So yeah TC - totally agree with you.
It appears that Kamui's seat at Caterham is "up for sale" for the rest of the season:
Lotterer was now only in the seat for Spa (my bad earlier then - thanks for nothing, Autosport!)
Rumours of Carlos Sainz Junior (OK'ish) and Roberto Merhi (VERY OK!) taking the seat later in the season (subject to FIA Approval) are rampant.
Which leads me to suggest that maybe F1 might be open to the idea of "Guest Drivers" as you currently get at WTCC/Porsche Supercup/etc meetings.
Not such a daft idea if it's handled right IMHO.
Lotterer was proof of that.
