Had a quick ride on the Juras yesterday.... Gland to Gex, and back again.

accomplishment for me is i was able to log-in today.

way to go Werner. what's your time on that 12K run? I'm sure you did not use one of your faster bovine to help you.

Henrik, any photos of the scenery, and what do those giant sperms (in your map) signify?

Gelert, congratulations for being 74th. that would be 1143 places better than my 1217. apologies by the way for not learning Sue's (and your) recent personal loss much earlier. condolence.

The "giant sperms" are just markers I used to track the route. You can actually see part of the road on Google Streetview:

This is where the fun starts. On the left here you can see what locally is referred to as the "pit stop", and on weekends it is usually packed with motorcycles.

Spent a few days last week fabricating some stone. Green onyx, red onyx, and black granite liners. All tiles started as 12" (30 cm) squares. Lots of cutting. i designed this a few years ago for someone else and did it in different materials.

gueuze - that is beautiful... the geologist in me can't help but think what gorgeous bits of onyx you've got there - and what a beautiful display Smile

gelert - can't help noticing you're 97... that's a pretty big achievement too... or is it something to do with this message - "Sorry, this site does not accept user older than 99 years old" - do you get kicked out when you turn 100?!?!? rofl! [PS - I only got that response because I originally didn't put my year of birth in]

The boys at the tile forum were pretty impressed, I may lose my self professed status an amateur hack.

Senn- it's been walking on eggshells the whole time as it is very volitile stone and can break at any time. Nothing but nerves, cigarettes, and coffee.

I'm impressed too... hadn't thought about that really, but it's logical what with the layering in the strata, it's gonna easily crack. Actually, I've seen the odd 'sculpture' for sale in Onyx with such flaws (by sculpture I mean things like dishes and vases they normally carve out) - it's a pretty hard rock in comparison, but the planes within it I imagine make it a bitch to cut up... still impressed Smile
