Boeing 74 Crash
Unbelievable video footage of a Boeing 747-400F (cargo) aircraft stalling and plummeting towards earth just after take-off. 7 crewman perished.
Been discussing with the guys at work as to the cause. My take from the very short video, is that there was a load shift (loose cargo) causing the aircraft to be out of balance as the CG moves back, forcing rapid nose-up and consequently a stall at very low altitude (~1200ft). It was taking off from Bagram (Afghanistan). A fellow colleague (who has been trained to be an air crash investigator, although I don't think he knows much about aircraft! > reckons it's an engine failure but I can't see how that could possibly be the case given the attitude of the plane.
Warning, shows a fatal aircraft accident:

Within the informed and gracious comments on YouTube, the lame and dumb ones are almost as shocking, ffuxache.
Jeez. What can I say?
RIP doesn't seem to cut it enough.
Thanks for the link, PL - but it really is quite harrowing.
Especially the silence...

Re: Boeing 74 Crash
Playlife, I agree it looks like a major load shift. I was discussing this elsewhere and the plane was reportedly carrying 5 military vehicles. A load like that shifting during the takeoff and initial climb out could easily pitch the nose up like that.
Really devastating footage there.

A friend posted on Facebook claimed to have known one of the guys. I'll have to ask her to see what she knows.
