5-2=Podium
Donington WSBK.
WOOOOT!
You have to watch these races...if you don't have time...watch the last three laps of race two.
BTW the thread title was from Tom Sykes, and it made me laugh.

lol, thanks for the heads-up. Just got around to watching the Monza races on the weekend, or rather, the 10 laps they raced...

Those might be the two most diametrically opposed race weekends ever.

Re: 5-2=Podium
Watched race 1 at lunch today, and will do race 2 tomorrow. I was bummed and happy for the result in race 1. Finally BMW wins, and although I like Melandri I so wanted Haslam to do it at his home track.
Ah well...
Ah well...

Indeed, that was a good race. I have to say though that Rea is a bit reckless in his riding. This is certainly not the first time he is involved in some real pushing like this, and during the reace he had a few moments.
That said, it was really Melandri who messed things up. He tried to go for it through Goddards not having a chance in hell of making it. As he went wide, Haslam also went a bit wide as he defended his position. Rea saw an opening and went for it. It is one of these fraction of a second decisions, and he did what a racer does. Unfortunately Haslam managed to tighten up a bit his turn... I feel so sorry for Haslam because he really didn't do anything wrong, but I still put it down to a race incident.
Sykes is funny!

Agreed.
I especially enjoyed Sykes knowing he was gifted a podium, and the smile at his good fortune was contagious for me. Nothing like the guys who get better tire wear crashing each other out!
