RunGP goes AMA racing.
As some of you know my company currently sponsors several riders in AMA Pro racing. Chris Peris on the ESP/Ironhorse BMW, Rocco Horvath who travels with ADR (Aussie Dave racing), Joey Pascarella who races in the Italian CIV 600 Superstock series, and for his first event in AMA racing just turned 16 year old Ryan Matter. Remember that name. The kid would crawl through glass to race. Does his homework, gets good grades, he is funny, sarcastic, and absolutely stunningly fast. He's been racing on Pirellis for quite awhile, the spec pile of shit Dunlops will be a first for him...he's going to have a tough, tough weekend in AMA Supersport. He's the kind of kid who will take his lumps and go forward. His aspirations are to get to Europe, and race there...John Ulrich from Roadracing World and the owner of M4 Suzuki team has been instrumental in helping us get this going. If you don't know John you will know the other riders he discovered. John Hopkins, and Ben Spies to name a few. John really like Ryan and has high hopes for him.
Wish us luck...it's going to be a long pride swallowing weekend, but Ryan is ready and chomping at the bit to race these guys...Some of them he's raced since he was a little kid and is used to getting the best of them. Benny Solis will most likely win with Garrett Gerloff and Jake Lewis in tow...top 15 will be great for us. Ryan wants a top 10...got get 'em kid!!!!
The new bike. These were bikes that were raced by Martin Cardenas to the #1 plate last year in AMA Daytona Sportbike for the Monster M4 Suzuki team.
Here's a couple of action pics:
Here's the bikes the day we picked them up...one came with Danny Eslicks body work...

Re: RunGP goes AMA racing.
That is so cool! I have seen some of the pictures on Facebook, and I love the new livery.
You are a lucky man to be able to work with something that is your passion. I so wish I could do that, and perhaps one day it will happen. In the meantime I will continue to attend a few races here and there, and most of all keep riding my bike!
We should be going to the WSBK race at Magny Cours in a month, which should be fun! And I will be sure to keep an eye on how "your" kid is performing.

Re: RunGP goes AMA racing.
Thanks Henrik!
When we all met back in the day...and then Shamu formed...I had no idea my life was going to lead me this way. I'm just stoked. Hopefully good things keep happening, and I will keep working hard, and maybe one day I will get my team to Europe. At that point I will have to disavow all knowledge of all of you.

I'm totally chuffed for you chap.
As you know, I don't follow the Two-wheeled stuff...I'd love to, but there's simply not enough down-time chez-moi to fit all of the racing coverage into....I've got both GP2 races and the Porsche Supercup race from Spa still burning a hole in my Sky+ just now.
Whatever - H8, I'm genuinely seriously pleased for you - go for it...!

Re: RunGP goes AMA racing.
Well 17th in the first race and 14th in second is pretty damn good for a first outing! You got the top 15 you wanted!!
But I bet Ryan is hungry for more and a top 10 now...

Re: RunGP goes AMA racing.
I tell you what...I'm stunned by the weekend. We've worked with this kid and his Father for 6 months. The last two months have been very difficult, as we got closer to Ryan's 16th birthday his Father became more and more demanding.
Anyway...his father is a total douchebag. He signed a contract with us, took the bike and it's obvious to us now that he had no intentions of using it. He just wanted it as a spare. It came to out attention when this photo was published by the largest trackday operator in the California.

Here's the direct link in case the FB one doesn't work:

So... by fucking me, he has now lost his Pirelli sponsorship, his free trackdays, and any future deals with about two dozen companies.
I don't so much blame the kid (well a little), his Dad was a former Kawi factory roadrace mechanic, and he told us anything less than 10th was a failure. While I thought that was odd at the time, it turns out that he was trying to cut a deal with another team(they were in the dark as well), and needed Ryan in the top ten to get their support. He gambled everything on a single hand of poker for lack of a better term.
I'm still stunned at his deceit. Jon Ulrich owner of Roadracing world, told me before we had the contract that underfunded parents trying to get their kids a ride were exactly the same as crack addicts. He was right. I emailed John the moment I found out, he walked over to see what was really going on.
Fucking sucks.
I will laugh at this someday. Our next local series race begins in a few weeks....We will start looking again for someone we can be proud of.
Now we are shitting bricks that were going to have issues getting the bike back.
Made me feel really good when the owner of another major team called me and said thank you. Now everyone knows to steer clear of Jim "JJ" Matter and Ryan until Ryan turns 18.
Thanks for watching and listening.

Re: RunGP goes AMA racing.
Well that really sucks! I was just able to see the results tables and thought that looked like in line what you were hoping for (and what would be a very encouraging result).
Sorry to hear that whole deal has gone down the drain. I hate it when riders, who often are quite easy to influence one way or another, get their careers and personality messed up by their entourage.
Hope you get the bike back safely, and everything gets sorted out quickly. In case you need another rider let me know. I could always get on a plane and show up to ride...

Re: RunGP goes AMA racing.
A'hem...
Shurely Henrik was always your FIRST choice...?
Press Release #2:
"Due to the recent shortage of decent International Financiers, it was felt appropriate to give Ryan Doodah a trial run - on a one-off basis.
However, seeing as Henrik has finished sorting-out the world's economic crisis to a manageable degree, he is now available to ride one of our machines.
Our sponsors are also pleased to advise that Gaddafi Duck and God are keen to get their hands on a ride, once our latest raft of upgrades becomes available.
FYI - Team Orders do NOT exist!"

Now that would be origonal!! Maybe I should get one of those for when I ride the bike to work, so that I don't need to change. It needs to be done with a tie which can then fly flapping behind you as you race around.
