F1 Canada - Formula 1 Montreal | Circuit Gilles Villeneuve 2011
Back in days of cheesey mash, when sausages were made of real meat, and gravy was akin to onion porridge, there lived a sage of biblical proportions...
He would and could be relied-on to start the relevant thread, and within the the relevant section of the forum....and within the acceptable thyme-phrame.
And woe to those that tried to usurp this tradition.
Sadly, as the days grew longer and his eyesight shorter, this sage became less reliable...

That can't have been a real race, there was too much passing anfd racing going on. This of course brings the veracity of any threads about the race into question.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
Confusion at McLaren: Martin Whitmarsh, pre-qually, claimed that they (Mac) had gone "Soft Race Set-up" in anticipation of rain for the race on Sunday.
And yet Jason Bunton claimed post-qually that an F1 car's set-up is so good these days that no set-up changes are necessary - wet or dry - and thus he wasn't running said "Soft Set-up"
Good to have Ferrari back at the sharp end - lets get rid of these RBR "Pretenders to the throne", and return to Mac racing the REAL "Dark Side"...

Suddenly Ferrari are alive and fighting again. I can't wait for the race tomorrow, it's going to be brilliant!!! I still find it funny that here I am in Italy, fresh off the boat...moved here to be closer to Ferrari...and the same week Ferrari up and leaves for Canada!
FORZA FERRARI!!!

Maybe they're trying to tell you something...
I'm dealing with the frustration of changing cable services and not having Speed channel: No F1, no LeMans...
It does seem as though Vettel now has the mindset of a champion and a taste for blood. Even if the other teams are making substantial developments he will remain a significant force.

So the best 4 hour race of the season, which I sleep through the boring parts then have to watch the apparently exciting parts via F1's live timing? Unfair I say!
Yeah, shoot me, I lied about having time to show up more or even watch races. But I care, really I do.

Unbelievable race, an absolute disgrace in terms of justice for drivers, but Button drove the best race of his life, he must be on drugs.
Good to see you Trixie, hope all is well x x x

Wow, wow, and wow! Trixie, so good to see you.
At the risk of incurring Danny's wrath, I have to say that Shummi drove a great race too..

That was indeed a very exciting and extended Canadian GP! Well done to Jenson who's sensational drive pressured Vettel into a mistake and even to Schummi for showing us a glimpse of the driver he once was! I must admit to feeling extremely dissapointed with Ferrari's afternoon. We looked so good all weekend and I really had the feeling that we could pull off a victory. Sadly it was not to be... Flippy was really on it today, even more so than Fernando, I hope that this means he's found his bite back and can start driving the way he did before his accident!! It should be interesting to see if he's equally on it in Valencia!
On a funnier note, what is Lewis on?!!! For the second race in a row he seemed to be on a one man mission to end as many people's races as possible! lmao!!! I used to think that Mark Webber was the new DC, but after yesterday I'm starting to think that honor could go to Hammy! You have also got to love the comments made by the always outspoken Nikki Lauda "He is completely mad. If the FIA does not punish him, I do not understand the world any more. At some point there has to be an end to all the jokes." We shall see what fate awaits the Hammster!

From the looks of things Hammy might be on Rhianna. Poor Nicole was surely blowing his mobile up on that deal.

What's the point of extreme weather tyres ? Following the safety car ?
In another story, seems Lewis found Paul Tracy's old brain & Montoya's old balls...and is using them (probably inverted them too...) !!! Too funny...Yet, it grows on me....

Unfortunately, this transpired to be a "Soft-in-the-head Race Set-up" for one of their drivers....Gelert wrote:Martin Whitmarsh, pre-qually, claimed that they (Mac) had gone "Soft Race Set-up" in anticipation of rain for the race on Sunday.

F1 drivers suck. Since when is turning in on a driver who is alongside you a condoned practice? And the FIA and retard stewards blame the driver behind for an avoidable accident, duh. If a driver is alongside you must give him space it's racing 101. Pinnicle of motorsport my ass. The last 15 laps were great but the rest of the race was an embarrassment to motorsport.

They have to ban that rule that allows the teams to change tyres under a red flag. It just ruins the race.

I agree, TC. Think about jhow the end of Monaco might have been had Vettel had to run on those old tires of his.

Re: F1 Canada - Formula 1 Montreal | Circuit Gilles Villeneuve 2011
i think from a spectacle point of view we've been spoiled this year... we reeally cant complain about a rule that mightve been in the book for over a decade... and as much as wouldve loved to see vettel put it in the wall defending at monaco, if you'd been the one to make it that far until the safety car and it was within the rules to change your tyres on the grid, then you'd you have say you did everything you needed to up till that point....
that said, i think it would be good to change it so theyre not allowed to change anything on the cars during a red flag...

I think the red-flag is usually used when there is a major accident on the track, then car may get damaged through no fault of there own (picking up puntures from driving over debris).
I know the rule stinks and is being abused, but if a driver's car is put out of a race when it is no fault of the driver, you can understand the logic behind the origonal ruling.

Danny I would just call that part of racing. In Neckcar if you touch a car under a red flag the car is penalized. However, a compromise would be that a team must contact Charlie whiting to get permission.

I would have no objection to the rules being changed to allow permission to be given, the only problem being, we all know how discretion works in F1

Re: F1 Canada - Formula 1 Montreal | Circuit Gilles Villeneuve 2011
Sorry I haven't been around for quite a while. Two things: ridiculously busy with my video post production company, and found F1 to be just too boring for words, until recently. Montreal was the best contest I've seen for years, things seem to be sorting out, now that they aren't changing the rules every few minutes.
Who else here is on Gran Turismo 5 PS3? I'm using the same sign -in : Cine_Man.
Lately having some fun again, learning the Nordeschliefe, and trying to get past the intermediate Lotus event at the TopGear track.
