2011 Season opener: F1 GP Australia
So I haven't even been following launches or testing so I have no clue.
Any predictions or comments ahead of the race?

I predict that you're not going to do very well in the F1Manager League unless you join...eso wrote:Any predictions or comments ahead of the race?
Other than that, I haven't got a scooby until Free Practice starts.

I predict that my ability to watch the races online has been severely impacted by the Department of Homeland Security's closing down of the ADTHE.net site.
Seems closing websites is easier than catching terrorists.

That sucks.
With a new season starting, I am really going to try to watch a few races this year, and not just the ones in the far east...

Hi! Sorry I've been MIA again, I really want to get here more often, miss you all, and can't believe the season starts!!!!! So excited, but have NO CLUE as to what's going on. Kubica's accident was a total shock to me, who knows what else I've missed in F1 and in your lives.
So sorry, will try to do better and participate more. OK, that's relative.... hahaha.
ETA: Perhaps I shall have a Peroni tonight and wish I was watching with Mr. G again. I do miss everyone so much!

Re: 2011 Season opener: F1 GP Australia
I'm SO glad that I got up at 0230hrs this morning to watch FP3.
After FP3's 1min25sec showing, I reasoned that Petrov would get into Q3, and that Willy's couldn't manage a 1'25". So I swapped-out my previous choice of Rubens + Perez for Petrov + D'Ambrosio.
Sorry to see Rubens dump himself out like that - but happy to see Petrov stay on the track.
What a howler of a weekend for Massa so far - and Nando is driving at 11/10ths. I fear that Ferrari have a bit of a dog on their hands.
And where TF did Vettel get that time from - and without using KERS...?!!! I guessed pole at 1'24" dead - and my heart sank when Seb did 1'24"09 in Q2... But 1'23"5**...WTF! Bastard!
Great news for Mac, although it is the dirty side of the track?
Roll on 0600hrs tomorrow...

Here we go, if Ferrari fail to win the WCC then we must dump Domenicali.
BTW-thanks Rubens for screwing up my fantasy league.

On the rare occasions I get that much sleep, I usually end up with a major headache by noon...
Did you find a source for a video feed yet?

Re: 2011 Season opener: F1 GP Australia
Fell asleep about halfway through, watched a German feed. There was surley some good stuff to watch. Always a shame to see the local boy do not- so- good.
Did Massa let through FA with the now approved team orders? he did a great job of keeping Button behind him, for a while. Shame about the drive through, but deserved I guess.
HRT? So how do their sponsors feel about the money they're spending? To go to OZ to sit out the show? lol,

Sauber duo disqualified from Australia

Sauber drivers Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi have been disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix over a technical infringement.
Perez, making his grand prix debut, had finished in a strong seventh position, one place ahead of his Japanese team-mate Kobayashi.
After the race, however, the race stewards excluded both cars over the infringement of technical rules 3.10.1 and 3.10.2.
The infringement occurred in the uppermost rear wing element.
Article 3.10.1 reads: "Any bodywork more than 150mm behind the rear wheel centre line which is between 150mm and 730mm above the reference plane, and between 75mm and 355mm from the car centre line, must lie in an area when viewed from the side of the car that is situated between 150mm and 350mm behind the rear wheel centre line and between 300mm and 400mm above the reference plane. When viewed from the side of the car no longitudinal cross section may have more than one section in this area.
"Furthermore, no part of this section in contact with the external air stream may have a local concave radius of curvature smaller than 100mm.
"Once this section is defined, 'gurney' type trim tabs may be fitted to the trailing edge. When measured in any longitudinal cross section no dimension of any such trim tab may exceed 20mm."
3.10.2 states: "Other than the bodywork defined in Article 3.10.9, any bodywork behind a point lying 50mm forward of the rear wheel centre line which is more than 730mm above the reference plane, and less than 355mm from the car centre line, must lie in an area when viewed from the side of the car that is situated between the rear wheel centre line and a point 350mm behind it."
The exclusion of the Sauber drivers means Ferrari's Felipe Massa is elevated to seventh, ahead of Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi, and Force India duo Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta.

Heinkelburg will be replacing "not-so-quick Nick" Heidfeld very shortly...Srrh wrote:How long before Massa is replaced by Perrez, who will himself be replaced by Hunkelberg ?
Felippe "Takagi spins in my soul" Massa will be replaced by Luca di-or-not-di Montezemolo, who will astound the world by beating Alonso with his first timed lap...
Sergio Perez will replace Mark Webber by Silverstone.
