Post by Danny Boy Sun Nov 14 2010, 15:55

Well deserved, and how fitting that neither Webber or Alonso are on the podium with him.

Webber was a disgrace from the moment he got out of his car after qualifying, he was never going to overtake Alonso, far happier to let the Ferrari driver get the WDC than his own team-mate. and Alonso gesturing a Petrov at the end just shows what a spoilt little kid he is.

Well done Sebastian, well done Lewis, well done Button, well done Rosberg, well done Kubica, well done Petrov. cheers cheers cheers

Post by Dani Sun Nov 14 2010, 16:13

Well, that was one of the worst mornings I have had in a while. A little bit of personal drama at 6am and then the race. If we had lost it in any other way I think the team could survive, but it hurts so much to think about the coming witch hunt. I am so demoralized right now and above all I don't want the team to change. This had to be our year and today we were hit with a baseball bat and now have to figure out where to go from here.

Congrats to Vettel, he is a worthy champion. If we had lost in any other way it would have been ok.

Alonso gesturing at Petrov shows what kind of scum he is.
Alonso not congratulating Sebastian shows how classless he is.
Ferrari got exactly what they deserve and I'm so very happy about that.

Well done RBR for showing that it can all be achieved without resorting to cheating.
Well done Sebastian for showing ultimate cool under a lot of duress a well deserved championship.

Awesome drive by Petrov, Lewis, Jenson Kubica and Nico! GREAT RACE!

I don't understand why losing "in this way" is so bad, Dani. You lost fair and square. If Ferrari can't survive that without a witchhunt, they should get out of the business, or they are as childish as Alonso re: Petrov. Petrov beat him fair and square, not sure what the problem was.

Nando- the car in front of you was yellow, not red- therefore it does not automatically pull over for you. And even if he had, was Rosburg supposed to follow suit? Fucking prat, I believe the British expression is.

I imagine Dani fails to understand why Ferrari adopted such a stupid pit stop strategy, Vettel, Lewis, Button and Kubica managed to stay or gain in position.

Ferrari threw it away, no one to blame but themselves, next year Dani study

Gee Dani, I would be hoping that the line up does change. I think Bobby will be going to Ferrari for 2011, this is one of the reasons why Massa has been underperforming since he gifted the win to Alonso. And if he does there will be another new WDC next year because I do not think that Alonso has the skill or mental fortitude to go against him

If Robby does go to Ferrari I may cheer for them again, but as long as Alonso is the defacto #1, I aint going there.

Despite being a Ferrari man, I'm so happy for Vettel as I think he truly deserved this championship more than anyone this year and he's my favourite driver. He's a great guy and the friendliest driver I've ever met. I have copious amounts of STR apparel from when he drove there in 2007/08.

He's been unstoppable in the last 4 races - if not for the blown engine in Korea, he'd have won 4 on the trot.

Well done Seb!!

Dani:
Alonso had the 3rd best car this season. The team orders debacle doesn't mean much, anyone who watched the 2010 F1 season would have seen Massa was almost always slower than Fernando. How much can team order be applied if one driver is almost always behind the other.

Alonso out-performed the car this year. Ferrari only had the fastest car in Monza, and even then, it was touch and go with McLaren. He's had an awesome season and certainly should never have beaten 1 RBR and 2 McLaren drivers.

He should never have taken the title chase to the final race, he was the only driver consistantly pushing the RBRs and McLarens in the 2nd half of the season. He's the only reason why it wasn't an RBR white wash and dull easy win for them.

I think mechanical failure and accidents to Vettel and Lewis, contributed far more to Alonso's position in the WDC chart, than any exceptional driving on Alonso's part.

2nd best in terms of speed and probaby equal to RB when you factor in the reliability. Alonso made too many mistakes - whether he put the car in the walls at Monaco or Spa, lost positions at the start, the latest of which was in the decisive race yesterday, he should share the blame. Team orders gave him a huge advantage because he knew he always could rely on his lap dog Massa to move over. We have seen in the past how fragile he is when he gets beaten by a teammate, even if it's in a few races. The other teammates kept taking points out of each other - Button led Hamilton to two 1-2s if I am not mistaken, the Red Bulls even collided in one race. So Alonso failed miserably despite having the car and the team working for him. After the mid-season upgrades Ferrari had the car, he failed to deliver in several races.

"English" as in "spin"...?

Meanwhile, Dani's predictions might be wide of the mark...
...for it's Luca who's received the hastily-inserted Pineapple-sans-lube...

Montezemolo dismisses politician criticism

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88311

Luca di Montezemolo has reponded to criticism from Italian government ministers, after the team came under fire following the manner in which it lost the world championship in Abu Dhabi.
Roberto Calderoli of Italy's Northern League party called for di Montezemolo's resignation after what he called a "demented strategy" to pit Fernando Alonso earlier than planned during Sunday's race.
But di Montezemolo dismissed the comments, coming from a political party he has been critical of in the past.
"For all of us it's a difficult day, the night hasn't lessened the bitter taste after the sad end to an extraordinary season," di Montezemolo said on Monday.
"We're sorry to see that there are some politicians on the outside who are ready to push for the guillotine when things go badly.
"We don't understand anyone who revels in self-defeatism, who sinks into the culture of 'everything's gone wrong, we have to start all over again'. They are vices that are very Italian, that we must learn to shake off."
Di Montezemolo repeated his pride in Ferrari's comeback in the later stages of the season.
"The hard law of sport requires just one winner, but we ended up fighting right up to the final race - including an exceptional fightback when the critics said we were beaten four months ago," he said.
"We have always stayed united, acting as the people of Ferrari know how: gritting our teeth and never letting go.. We have returned Ferrari to where it should be - fighting for victory.
"In sport, we remember the margin between victory and defeat is always very slim. You have to know how to accept losing just as you have to enjoy your successes with restraint."

...there's that "English" reference again... cheers

The only place Ferrari were stronger than RBR was at Monza. McLaren were better yet, the only reason Button didn't win was because he had a damaged diffuser and Lewis chose the wrong setup.

Look where Felipe was. If Ferrari were as good as RBR, Felipe would have been up there. Probably not winning, by getting podiums. He was nowhere. Do you think Massa is that bad?

Reliability I agree. Accidents to Vettel and Lewis, well that's part of racing isn't it, unless it's out of your control, then you don't deserve points if you crash.

From reliability, points dropped:
Vettel 73
Lewis 35
Alonso 4
Button 4
Webber 2

Driver mistakes, points dropped:
Vettel 43
Alonso 34
Webber 34
Hamilton 12
Button 0

Alonso had great races in Australia, China, Monaco, Japan, Brazil.
He had storming races in Hungary, Italy, Singapore, Korea.

That's not to say no one else had good races at these places either.

He had some terrible ones also:
GB, Belgium, Turkey.

Well I feel like I have a hangover. It's a good thing that I got today off of work, that would not have been fun. I was very pleased to read Luca's report on the race, but I can't ignore the media and the 'tifosi'. Every other post on the so called tifosi fan pages seems to be calling for Stefano's head on a plate. As for this season, I think that the team definately made mistakes but I was so proud of the way that they fought back when everyone said they were finished. The car was much improuved in the second half of the season and I think that the team did a fantastic job to get it to where it was. I'm still in shock, I never actually thought that we would loose. I know that sounds crazy, but I was so sure of it, then again I was sure of a lot of things a few days ago. Give it a few weeks, hopefully everything will calm down.

On the plus side I have job offers in Bologna, Turino and Milano, so with any luck I'll make it to Maranello for the car launch in the new year. :-)
