Is Luca Leaving?!!!

Post by Dani on Thu Dec 02 2010, 04:53

I was reading the news today when I came across an article about Luca Montezemolo. Apparently Luca is considering a switch to Italian politics! Shocked Ok, so it's not the biggest shock on earth but still I am a little stunned. Apparently if there will be an announcement made, it will come on December 16 at the annual press conference.

Written by Joe Saward:

Berlusconi’s first government collapsed after just seven months in power and one of his ministers Lamberto Dini ran the country until May 1996 when he lost the general election to socialist Romano Prodi, between then and the autumn of 1998 when some of his coalition split and a new government was formed by Massimo D’Alema, who had to create a second alliance a year later before being ousted by April 2000 by Giuliano Amato. His government lasted only until the next General Election in May 2001 when Berlusconi’s new centre-right coalition took power for the next five years. Prodi put together a new alliance and in April 2006 defeated Berlusconi and took power, but in 2008, he lost a vote of confidence and resigned and the subsequent election took Berlusconi’s new coalition back to office. That is now falling apart and there is much talk of a new centre-right coalition being formed, involving Fini, Francesco Rutelli (who was the leader of the centre-left alliance defeated in 2001 by Berlusconi) and, so rumours suggest, Montezemolo, who is very popular because of his successes with Ferrari and has a good track record as a former chairman of Fiat and the ex-president of Confindustria, the Italian association of industrialists. He is not saying anything at the moment but clearly sees this as his big chance as the centre-right needs a charismatic new champion.

Well it certainly explains the random verbal attack on Ferrari after we lost the championship!!!! I'm guessing this has been on the agenda for quite some time.

And the big question is, Dani, what does it do to Stepheno's position in Ferrari?

I'm fine with Stefano where he is for now and I definately don't think that Ferrari needs another year of transition.

Well apparently now Luca is definately leaving. Luca Badoer that is. It had to happen sooner or later but I am sad to hear about him leaving. It's amazing how quickly a decade flys by.

You just have to love the Luca drama!lol! His statement today, when asked about politics, was "Let me do my job. I'm so glad we have many, many things to do here at Ferrari." Way to keep us all waiting on the edge of our seats until Thursday Luca! He's always 10 steps ahead and just when you think that you have him all figured out, he throws you a curve ball. Ferrari is a household name, it really is amazing how anything associated with the name seems to make international headlines. It is impossible to be certain of anything at this point. Still, I am starting to believe that he never had any intention of leaving at all. You have to admire him and at the same time you can't help but question his sincerity.

Crikey - I know that I'm not yet up-to-speed with all of the rule-changes for next season.
But I didn't know that this had become compulsory.

Yup - we use it all of the time chez moi.
"Darling - could you ask Smithers to restock the Ferrari in the West Wing bathroom?"

He would make a great Leader. He has only thrown 3 drivers under the bus recently.

I suppose the Schummi way of throwing the whole team under a bus is better?

The thought of Berlusconi in anything that might be described as "tight" is really rather revolting... Shocked

So Chris Dyer is Luca and Stephano's fall guy. Blaming him for Alonso's missed WDC is pure crap.

It's only because he's Australian - first Webber losing the WDC, then the flooding in Queensland. Now The Ashes. Ferrari don't want that kind of luck.

Re: Is Luca Leaving?!!!

I certainly feel for him but it had to happen. There were always going to be casualties in the wake of our lost campaign. It was such an unfortunate error and anyone could have made it, it just happened to be Chris who called it. I definately thought that it was the right decision at the time even though I thought that it didn't seem to work out for Flippy, I was confident the call would pay off. Ferrari has nothing to be ashamed of in my opinion. I really thought that it was our year from the day that the F10 was launched. In typical Ferrari style, nothing was straightforward or free of controversy but the team really came together and fought back. After the last race I was genuinely worried that the team would begin to self-destruct but I think that I might have underestimated them. They made the only decision that could be made even though it was hard. Stefano also considered handing in his resignation and I am very glad that he reconsidered. I agree with Stefano, I don't think that anyone knows the team like he does and I don't think that anyone else would be better suited for his position. The team has picked themselves up and is ready for another chance at the championship. I know that this team can win! I can't wait for the new car launch at the end of the month and feel like a little girl again, all impatient and full of hope. Smile

FORZA FERRARI!!!!!!

Do you honestly believe Stefano actually considered quitting? He needed a fall guy and picked Dyer. You can't blame 1 call for multiple years of screw ups developing the car. Face it, since the old black coats took over the team has done poorly. This latest move is just another series of bad calls.

TopContender- Yes I do believe it. I also believe that if he thought that he was hurting Ferrari, he would step down. If I felt the way that I felt immediately after the race, I can't even imagine how the team must have felt! Do I like what happened to Chris? No. But everyone has been out for blood and something was always going to happen. As for it being a bad call, only time will tell.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88808

....the Maranello-based outfit announced on Tuesday night that there would be a reshuffling of staff ahead of the 2011 campaign.

The biggest change comes with former McLaren engineer Pat Fry replacing Chris Dyer as head of race track engineering with immediate effect. Dyer's new role at the team will be resolved in the next few days.

Ferrari has also confirmed the signing of former Red Bull Racing and McLaren member Neil Martin, who heads up the new Operations Research department. He will report directly to technical director Aldo Costa.

It's alright TC. Ferrari are merely employing as many ex-McLaren staff as they possibly can.

After all, who knows more about Ferrari cars than McLaren staff.

OK, so Dyer is the fall guy, that's F1. And if things went differently he could have been a hero.

Sometimes the cookie crumbles.
