Certainly not as witty was either DC or Wycco, but this was some fun I had last week while shopping for a new used Mac for cad work. Keep in mind that what they were "selling" was far too cheap and was immediately suspect:

Initial query:

Subject: Apple Mac Pro 2.93ghz 4 Core 16gb of ram 4tb HD NEW - $1800 (central LA)

Sat, 21 Nov 2009 07:45:37 -0800

Arrive at my door?

How can this be this cheap?
Take payment by Credit Card?

Interested.
How do I contact?
Eric

Hello ,

Thank you for your interest in my Apple Mac Pro 2.93ghz 4 Core 16gb of ram 4tb HD NEW.The asking price is $1800. The unit is exactly as mentioned in my craiglist ad. If you want to buy it, I will have to deliver it to you from my store in Los Angeles. Shipping and all delivery taxes ( including insurence ) are included in the price. Also you will receive a 30 days Money Back Guarantee. For the transaction, I suggest we use eBay for both security.
Also if you want to make the transaction with me , please email me your:

Full Name:
Address:
City:
Phone#

I will start the transaction with eBay right away.

Thank You ,

Where's your store? I'll pick it up.

Why do you have a german hotmail address with a famous fashion designer's name on it?

Hello,

I do not have a Paypal account, but I suggest we use ebay for this.I used them a few times just to make sure that when I buy and I sell something everything works great and nothing bad happens. As soon as you provide me your name, address and phone number,I will start the transaction and they will send you an invoice in which they will mention all the transaction details The transaction is pretty simple : you send the money to the eBay agent, I deliver the Apple to you and once you receive and see that it is in the condition I told you, you need to confirm to the eBay agent and he will send me the money. If the Apple has a problem or something you will send it to the ebay agent and he will send you the money back and deliver the Apple back to me.

Thanks ,
Barn

That sounds good, but if you have a store in LA that is so close I can just drive down with cash and pick up the computer if it looks good.

Where is your store? what is the name? Address? Phone Number? Store Hours?

If you send me this information I will will phone you and arrange to pick up the computer.

Eric

I've asked a few times what the name of your store is and you won't say. I work in Los Angeles and could pick it up and complete the transaction more easily that way.

I'm starting to think there is no store and no computer and that you're in some other country trying to take my money.

Why are you using a German Hotmail account if you have a store in LA?

OK, We can do this but I have to pay with a cashier's check and the check is for $5000.00. You'll have to cash the check and return the change with the computer:
$5000.00
-$1800.00
=$3200.00 Plus the computer.

The check is good, and is drawn off the Central Bank of Nigeria. I just don't have time to get it to the bank so I'll use it here and you can bring me the change.

What address do I send the Check to?

Eric

I've seen really good ones done, but I devoted way too much time to this already.

Keep in mind that had there actually been an item for sale as described it would have been sold within hours of it's initial posting and I dragged this out 5 days.

The add was on Craig's List LA.

This is from a local newspaper in Stains, previewing the upcoming match with Millwall (the game was last Saturday) the comments have been beautifully hi-jacked by Millwall supporters;
