Let The Games Begin
First day of testing, Massa, DelaRosa, and then Schumacher. Of course no conclusions can be drawn because of fuel loads.

Re: Let The Games Begin
Exactly, still it does make me smile to know that we are at the top of the time sheets even if it means nothing. It just hit me while watching some old videos...this is gonna be such a dramarific season! Here are just some of the drama points that I'm anticipating.
1. Ferrari vs. Mercedes (aka. team Schumacher)- To me, this is the most important battle of the last 10 years. Ferrari has finally gotten rid of them and now they have to show the world that they can do this without team Schumacher.
2. The young guns vs. Schumacher- All of those young drivers who grew up idolizing Schummi will finally have a chance to make their own mark in history.
3. Rubens against Schumacher- At last Rubens might have a chance to show the world that he can beat Schummi fair and square!
4. Flippy vs. Alonso- Will my team live up to the standards that they've set themselves since Schummi departed? Will there be equal status? Will Alonso freak out if there is? Can he put his ego aside and become part of Ferrari? Is Flippy the same driver that he was before his accident?
5. Ferrari vs. the 'Tifosi'- We all know what will happen if things are smooth sailing, but can my team hold up against the witch hunts, will my team look the same by the end of the year? I really hope so.
I can't get over what an important year this is.

Ahhh Dani, as much as I love your first three points, it just goes to show that M$ really IS F1...LOL! On a serious note, I like all your points, and find the last one rather interesting...actually, it would be tough if I had to rank your 5 points from most intresting to least interesting (though they'd all score under VERY interesting)!
Have a great week, and we'll see how the rest of testing pans out!!!
Oh yeah, here's how I'd rank'em:
#2, #4, #1, #5, #3.....regards!!!

Re: Let The Games Begin
Yes Racer X- The final point is what makes my stomach churn when I think about this year. Failure is not an option for Ferrari, the Tifosi and the Italian media will tear them apart should last year be repeated. The whole team is very well aware of this I'm sure. Alonso also has the potential to hurt us tremendously, although I think that Luca and Stefano are both well aware of this and have taken measures to at least publically put him in his place. Alonso has also shown nothing but respect and humility since he was announced. Not bringing anyone with him to Ferrari was a big gesture of his intentions for me and I have to admit it won me over a tiny bit. I am happy with the team as it is right now and that includes Luca Badoer :-D, I get the feeling that everyone involved is there for the right reasons and I know that this team can win. Rome wasn't built in a day and I worry that the Tifosi demand it. I'd be heartbroken if they give up on this Ferrari if success isn't instant. I would be heartbroken if we lost Stefano in some stupid witch hunt! I somehow think he has a thicker skin than I gave him credit for though. Everyone needs to be behind them now more than ever. I'm kind of holding my breath you see...

Round 2:
Ferrari/Massa, Sauber/Kobyashi, Maclaren/Hammertime, Renault/Kubica, Mercedes/Nico.
Sauber may be a dark horse or they are trying to get some sponsorship.

Re: Let The Games Begin
Srrh- well the team is certainly trying to market the driver line up as being 'latin' so I guess that sort of counts? lol!
Racer x- I am very pleased with the first two day, still I'm trying not to count my chickens before they hatch though.

Re: Let The Games Begin
Virgin's car for 2010, the VR-01, is the first F1 car designed entirely using CFD computer simulation technology. Allegedly the car is supposed to be designed without a wind tunnel . Acura designed an ALMS car this way.
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is one of the branches of fluid mechanics that uses numerical methods and algorithms to solve and analyze problems that involve fluid flows. Computers are used to perform the millions of calculations required to simulate the interaction of liquids and gases with surfaces defined by boundary conditions. Even with high-speed supercomputers only approximate solutions can be achieved in many cases. Ongoing research, however, may yield software that improves the accuracy and speed of complex simulation scenarios such as transonic or turbulent flows. Initial validation of such software is often performed using a wind tunnel with the final validation coming in flight test.

Great pic. When/Where was that? I'm thinking Montoya using Rubens for a ramp...

ya, pretty sure it was Ralf trying to mount Rubens in Australia...it seems he was feeling quite randy at that moment.

Re: Let The Games Begin
Hmmm, this Kobayashi guy is starting to get me interested. I have always had a soft spot for the Japanese drivers (and riders for that matter), and he looks to pretty damn good.
And the Hulk now in F1 as well, good! I remember watching him racing in A1 and I was really impressed with his driving. Saw him live at a few tracks, and he really knows how to drive! It does become fairly obvious when you really get to see the lines they take, braking points and so on, and I love checking drivers out in certain particularly tricky spots.

Gee Henrik, it sounds like your interest in this season is piqued.
You better be careful, or you might end up watching a race or two.

Well if I read on here that a race was particularly good, I might just download it to watch afterwards...
