SATA DVD Drive problem
OK, this is rather lame but I cannot boot from a recently installed SATA DVD drive. The boot up sequence in BIOS is set up correctly, however I never get the usual message which asks you to hit a key if you want to boot up from the CD/DVD, it skips straight to the launch sequence of the various partitions. The drive itself works fine, reading, writing, etc. except if I need to boot up to repair or reinstall Windows, it won't do it. I read that you need to play with the bios settings and configure it in "IDE mode" or something but not sure how to do it. Anyone else ran into a similar problem?

Re: SATA DVD Drive problem
Never mind, I changed the slot and it worked. Apparently some Nforce chipsets only recognize 4 of the SATA slots as native, I had mine in no.5.
Dumbass.

That was going to be my initial answer, not that you are a dumbass but to try another slot. It is quite common it seems that only four slots are recognized as native.

Yet it beats me why the drive worked fine in just about any other task but booting up.
